All About the Farm Crawl: Fall Activities in Virginia

This October marks the 4th semi-annual Frederick County Homesteaders Farm Crawl event. What began as a vision to directly connect our FredCo. farming community with families and local businesses in the area has blossomed into a highly anticipated, recurring event that has fostered a deeper relationship between farmers and consumers and helped revitalize local agriculture in Frederick County, Virginia. Fall activities in Virginia abound, discover what makes this Fall's Farm Crawl unique below.

What to Expect

As a farm crawl participant, explore the natural beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, appreciate the craftsmanship of locally made goods, and savor the tastes of autumn on our farms. Crawlers will enjoy a day of fun meandering through idyllic farms, getting to know our hardworking farmers, meeting our friendly animals, and shop local products ranging from fresh produce to handcrafted goods. You’re sure to cherish the memories you’ll make with your family and friends during this unique opportunity.

The Basics


When: October 05, 2024, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Where: Check-in begins at Solenberger’s Hardware (832 Berryville Ave, Winchester, VA 22601) between 9:00 and 10:00 AM.

Enjoy autumnal inspired beverages and fresh donuts from Donut Dive. At check-in, you’ll receive a map of participating farms and homesteads so you can easily navigate to where you want to go. Which farms you visit and how long you spend at each stop is up to you.

You’ll also receive the latest edition of our Shop Local Guide, a comprehensive resource for all things local. From inspiring stories of generational and and first time farms and local business highlights to homesteading articles and recipes, the Shop Local Guide is an invaluable resource for connecting Frederick County’s finest farms, homesteads, and local businesses with you.

Shenandoah Valley Fall Activities

New this Fall!

We have two exciting new additions to our fall event – the Farm Crawl Passport and An Evening on the Farm.

Farm Crawl Passport – A new way to explore the stops along the crawl!

Grab a passport when you check in at Solenberger’s Hardware and get it stamped at each location you visit. Bring your completed passport to An Evening on the Farm for a chance to win one of several prizes.

 

An Evening on the Farm – A fun finale for the whole family!

Join your fellow farm crawlers and local farmers from for an evening of food and fellowship at picturesque Hunting Ridge Retreat. Enjoy live music from High Mountain Bluegrass, BBQ dinner, local desserts from Simple Gifts Farmstead and cozy, fall inspired drinks from Donut Dive .

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and a cooler with your favorite non-alcoholic beverages and savor an evening in our beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

This event is free to attend for farm crawl participants; however, BBQ dinner tickets must be purchased separately in advance. Dinners are limited, so be sure to reserve yours at the ticket link below before they’re gone! Dinner begins at 5:00 PM.
