From June 14–20, residents, businesses, homeschool families, 4-H and FFA students, and visitors are invited to volunteer alongside local farmers throughout the Shenandoah Valley region. Through hands-on farm projects, agricultural education, and meaningful service opportunities, this event reconnects our community with the people and land that sustain us.
Welcome to FredCo Love Your Farmer Week.
June 14 – June 20
Right here at the mouth of the Shenandoah Valley, agriculture isn’t just part of our story, it is the story.
For generations, Frederick County has stood as an agricultural cornerstone in Virginia, shaped by the hands of farmers, producers, and families who have stewarded this land long before it was trendy to “shop local.” Long before food became a trend or a label, it was our farmers who sustained this valley, preserved its traditions, and built the foundation of our local economy and culture.
Now, just one month ahead of our nation’s 250th anniversary, we’re inviting our community to step back into that legacy and take an active role in it.

A Week Rooted in Purpose
This isn’t a festival you walk through, it’s one you step into.
FredCo Love Your Farmer Week is a county-wide, hands-on initiative designed to reconnect our community with the people and places that feed us. From June 14th through June 20th, local farms across Frederick County will open their gates—not as spectators, but as partners in the work.
Think of it as a homegrown version of a “day of caring,” but instead of conference rooms and name tags, you’ll find boots in the dirt, shared meals, meaningful conversations, and work that truly matters.
Now more than ever, supporting local agriculture is vital to preserving the health, longevity, and heritage of our farms and rural communities. This week is about more than volunteering—it’s about building relationships between farmers and neighbors, restoring appreciation for the work that sustains us, and helping revitalize agriculture right here in Frederick County.
How It Works
Throughout the week, participating farms and homesteads will host volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to lend a hand during one of the busiest times of the farming season.
Projects may include:
-
Harvest support
-
Planting and field preparation
-
Property maintenance
-
Animal care assistance
-
Fence repairs and farm cleanup
-
Gardening and homestead projects
-
General farm labor and seasonal tasks
No experience is required—just a willingness to show up, learn, and serve alongside the families who feed our community.
Whether you join for an afternoon, a full day, or several days throughout the week, every helping hand makes a difference.
Calling All Farms & Homesteads
FredCo Love Your Farmer Week was created for you.
This initiative exists to support the hardworking farmers, homesteaders, and producers who pour endless hours into stewarding the land and feeding our community. During one of the busiest seasons of the year, we want to come alongside you in a practical and meaningful way by connecting you with volunteers ready to serve.
Participating farms and homesteads can host projects large or small—from harvesting and weeding to repairs, animal care, cleanup projects, or educational demonstrations and skill sharing opportunities. Some farms may simply need extra hands for time-consuming seasonal work, while others may want to use this week as an opportunity to teach traditional agricultural skills and invite the community into the heart behind what they do.
This event is completely FREE for participating farms, homesteads, and volunteers.
If you’ve been looking for a way to share your work with the community, receive practical support during the busy season, or help inspire the next generation of agricultural stewards, we would love to have you participate in this county-wide initiative.
